California – My 10 Days Itinerary

I’m so excited by the 10 days I’ve spent in California! A little short for a state with so many things to see and so many things to do, but I discovered as much as I could! I am the kind of person who is willing to wake up early and stay up late and maximize my time to see as many places as I can. So here is the break down of my itinerary for my 10 days in the Golden State. As you’ll see, it’s pretty much the classical path, but it’s a good start for a first-timer like me. Day 1 – Montreal to San Francisco Well… I need to get there first… I flew with US Airways. It shouldn’t be too difficult for you to find a direct flight to San Francisco. My favorite search engine for flights is Skyscanner. You should always do a test and check the price on this site before buying from anywhere else. Day 2 –  San Francisco I started with the most touristic path and walked near the Golden Gate, Lombard Street and the Seven Painted Ladies. We entended to visit San Francisco by foot as I think it’s the best […]

How to Plan Your Trip in 10 Easy Steps

I know some people can get overwhelmed by the idea of planning a trip by themselves. You feel like there’s so much to think about and so much to do! You can be tempted to book an organized trip and then you have to follow a schedule you’re not always comfortable with, do activities you are not interested in, and talk to people you don’t know but have to deal with for all your trip. Planning a trip is easier than you may think. Organization is part of my day job and I’m here to give you the best tips I use to plan my dream trip. 1. Decide Where You Want to Go Maybe you already know where you want to go, or maybe you need inspiration. Let me help you. First, find the reason why you want to travel. Do you want to escape from winter? Do you want to discover a new culture? Do you want to learn something new? (That last one is often my reason to travel.) Maybe you need to choose a destination that fits your budget? Research the average cost per day for a destination to find one you can afford. Some places have an average […]

14 Days Itinerary in Iceland – Part 2

Since my 14 days road trip in Iceland has been a success, I thought it would be fun to share my complete itinerary so you can use it as an inspiration. There were long days, long drives, some more relaxing days, but each one of these proved that Iceland is one of the most beautiful place on Earth. You probably want to read this first: 14 Days Itinerary in Iceland – Part 1 Day 8 – Mývatn Oh, what a strange place is the region of Mývatn! All the weirdness of Icelandic nature concentrate around this lake. We passed the day driving around it, from site to site. You’ll never be bored in this region. Must-see : Hverir Krafla volcano Stora-Viti crater Leirhnjúkur Grjótagjá Dimmuborgir I wrote a complete post about the region: Myvatn: A Cheap Way to Go to Mars Total Km for the day: 220 km Total Km: 1330km Day 9 -Húsavík & Akureyri I highly recommend to go out of the Ring Road and take the 87 to Húsavík. As you already know if you follow my adventures around the world, I love everything about fish. In Húsavík, I had the most amazing whale watching tour ever! Humpback whales came so […]

Annoncing My Next Destination: Belgium!

I announced it on Facebook and Twitter a long time ago so probably a lot of you already know that I’m going to Belgium with my travel partner Claude! Reading my blog, you may have noticed that I sometimes “write with an accent”, and if you have read my About Page, you know I’m a French Canadian. It will be my first trip in a French speaking country and I must say that I can’t wait to speak my native language with people there. It will be a short one week trip in Belgium, but I think this country is perfect for this length. Just enough time to explore more than Brussels, and not too much time to gain 10 lbs eating all the chocolate. Ahah! Here’s the list of towns I’ll explore in Belgium: 1. Brussels Brussels will be my base camp since I have a friend who live there and he’s kind enough to let us stay at his apartment in exchange of maple sirop, caramel grenache and Tim Bits. Yeah, that’s what he’s missing from Quebec! So, no need to find accommodations, which is a huge budget relief. Of course, I’ll visit the Grande Place, the Atomium and the Manneken […]

14 Days Itinerary in Iceland – Part 1

Since my 14 days road trip in Iceland has been a success, I thought it would be fun to share my complete itinerary so you can use it as an inspiration. There were long days, long drives, some more relaxing days, but each one of these proved that Iceland is one of the most beautiful place on Earth. Day 1 – Getting there The first day is generally a ”lost” day, unless you’re a fan of living in a plane. From Montreal to Keflavík, it took about 12 hours, including a stop in New York. We arrived at the airport and just took the Fly bus to go to Reykjavík. I rent a cute room on AirBnb and we rested to catch on with the jet lag. By the way, Airbnb is way less expensive in Rekjavik than hotel room. You should take a look! (Sign up to Airbnb with this link and get a $25 credit towards your first stay!) Try to stay awake during the bus ride, the volcanic landscapes worth the look! Airlines are now offering direct flights to Iceland. I found the best prices on Skyscanner. As low as 99$ if you’re lucky enough to catch a deal […]
